PMX-003 II Neo-Geo
Kotobukiya 1/144 scale resin kit
Neo-Geo A.K.A. The-O II \"Hauer\" (in Kondo's universe, that is) is more or less another version of The-O designed by Makoto Kobayashi (who also designed the original The-O). It features most of the design element from its ancestor but with more elaborate design. I suppose that as with his original Baund Doc, the design is simply too complicate to animate on TV, so it's gotten watered down into The-O that we see in the show.

原文:
Based on the long running line of MS-06 Zaku. The main concept of this MS is an increase speed in maneuvering and its versatile weapon setting. (Which later adapted into AMX-014 DovenWolf). This Variation of Zaku III was designed for Mashuma Zero (or Cello, as they recently change it into), sporting a better thruster output than normal type.
GK VS Injection
Just my luck. Only a few months after I finished this kit, Bandai decided to release a plastic kit of Zaku III custom. Fortunately, after getting the plastic kit (since the first few days of release, no less!) and inspected it for a few days, it became clear that it, even with some Katoki's injection, it is no match to the garage kit. Especially in the size department.
This is one gigantic 1/144 kit! The size is approaching those of 1/100. Something of a stark contrast to its injection kit counterpart.
Several of the structure and joints on the Zaku III seem dubious at times. I still can't figured out why the creator decided to use 2 ball joints for each foot, parallel to each other. This is not only hard to fit it in, but also limit the movable range greatly. I instead use a double joint in its place. By doing so, enable the foot to be posed in many angle. Otherwise, I haven't been able to have both feet stand firmly on the ground. The elbow joints also come with their own set of problem.
Fitting is not always perfect here. Some skill using polyester putty (or the like) is needed to work with this kit, since there's a few large gap that need to be filled as well as some joint modifications.
Additional details
There are quite a few places where I spiced up large area of flat surface with a raised area of plastic plate. Like an area on top of the right shoulder shield, or on the back of lower legs.
As usual, rivets (along with photo-etch part) is being implemented here and there to help make things a little more interesting.
On the shoulder shield, I cover the rotating part with a cap taken from other kit's leftover of knee joint. While on the spike shield, rather than to glue both piece together, I use 2 rows of 1mm coil spring to join them. This helps enable it to 'open up' (see pic).
Some other minor additions is the use of Wave's H-eye on top of the Mono-Eye.
Coloring
I never really get into the Mashuma's color scheme. Therefore, I opted for the original scheme on the custom type instead. It must be said though, that I was highly inspired by the Model Graphix's feature from long ago which saw the Zaku III kai painted in normal scheme.
The light part is painted with shadow first by spraying flat black first and later cover with white. Whereas the dark part is neutral gray mixed with blue. Shaded with navy blue. The whole color scheme is based on gray monochrome, while playing around with 3 levels of intensity. Thus, the accent is placed on the yellow decal and the eye. |
