um, in the latest mgs4 trailer, the big [B]vamp[/B]/[B]raiden[/B] fight at the end is explicitly homo-erotic. i mean, vamp holds raiden from behind, while raiden stabs the sword through himself and into vamp.
mgs has always provided a pretty sophisticated social commentary, so it's hardly surprising that homo-eroticism has played such a large role in the libidinal power of the game. what mgs does so well (better than most movies) is subtly expose the homo-erotic support of male-on-male violence (from the military, to most active sports, etc...) and bonding. mgs is hardly alone, either. think of movies like the newest james bond (or for that matter ALL james bond films), where james bond is stripped, tied to a chair with a hole in it, and his balls are beaten by another man... probably the most explicitly homo-erotic and masochistic act i've seen in popular cinema recently.
