... To sh_cityzen, about your SH2 Hack and using TSearch...
Did you notice that IF you start the Hex Editor, at hex location \"1F8123C\",
then you will see two rows or horizontal lines of fairly identical numbers, sometimes?
(I suspect that there may be an OLD value versus a NEW value relationship
between these two rows?)
In fact, I have been able to make them, completely EQUAL,
under certain curcumstances and without any problems, that I can see???
(I simply use an old SAVE and then re-use it, again.)
And those TWO ROWs MATCH, perfectly...
And this MATCHING could be VERY HANDY for scanning unusual sh2.exe's, later. ;)
... A general description of how to use my minor mod, \"3dhacksh2-keypad.cht\"...
(These details are for casual users and for future SH hackers, perhaps?)
STEP 1, start TSearch and then start the Silent Hill 2 game...
(The original CD is required for these 3dhacksh2-keypad.cht addresses.)
STEP 2, load a saved game TWICE to set the numbers as close to EQUAL as possible...
(I use that \"Shipping Dock\" save to help me PROVE the N,S,E,W directions.)
(And then pause the game and hit \"alt + tab\", to get to TSearch.)
STEP 3, click \"Open Process\" and then \"sh2.exe\" of SH2 that you started in STEP 1.
STEP 4, click \"Load table from file\", the folder, and then \"3dhacksh2-keypad.cht\".
STEP 5, click \"Hex Editor\", the \"ones and zeroes paper\" icon...
STEP 6, click \"Goto\", the \"bent arrow and paper\" icon\" in \"HView\".
(Click \"Beginning of Process\" and \"Hex\" and then enter \"1F8122C\" and click \"Go\".)
*** PS, simply usage of \"3dhacksh2-keypad.cht\" ONLY requires STEPs 1, 3 and 4 ***
But, NOW, we should ALL be on the same page of addresses...
\"C1 R1 ?\" means \"Column 1 Row 1 ?\"(I didn't use hex 0 is still a mystery.
(And it will include two column positions, since the TYPE is Two Bytes.)
And that \"BTW\" means \"By The Way\" and there are general user instructions, there.)
(This BTW means that you NEED your \"num lock\" light ON for this mod to work.)
\"C3 R1 -/+X=E/W, alt/ctrl num_pad 6/4\" means \"Column 3 Row 1\" (Two Bytes)
and it does minus and plus adjustments to our X camera's direction in SH2,
by using the \"alt or ctrl keys with numeric the keypad 6 or 4 key...
\"C5 R1 ? (BTW, alt 0=freeze/unfreeze) \" means that
\"Column 5 Row 1 (Two Bytes) is still a mystery ?
and the BTW tells you that using an \"alt with keypad 0\"
will freeze or unfreeze the numeric values of the directions with a Blue Face icon.
\"C9 R1 ? (BTW, alt/ctrl=1x/10x moves)\" means that
\"Column 9 Row 1\" (Two Bytes) is still a mystery ?
and this BTW means that
with the alt-key, only +1 is added to the number
and with the ctrl-key +10 is added to the number.
(Simply read the rest of those BTW lines and you will see how simple this really is.)
*** Hit \"alt + keypad 0\" and see those blue faces appear, to FREEZE those numbers.
Return to your SH2 game and then choose with, either, an \"alt or ctrl key\" plus
a 8, 2, 6 or 4 key for N, S, E or W directions... (9 and 2 keys move Up and Down.)
(And while in the game, hitting \"alt 0\" will return the camera to its start.)
*** And BTW, the camera will JUMP like mad, somethimes, but still take pictures. ***
(It is like \"auto-targeting\", for the camera's player-sighting, is still in effect?)
Also, after doing an unfreeze, use your \"Search Mode\" key to straighten your view.
