here is the opening paragraph of the MGS4 review in the US OPM:
Ask any veteran videogame reviewer for their top 10 games of all-time and rather than excited expousal and insight you'll likely be greated by eye-rolls and deep sighs. Not that the question is passé - just that through the (...) of time it's so damn difficult. Was the game you may have scored an 80% ([I]Championship Manager[/I], many years ago) actually better than the one you gave 84% ([I]Neverwinter Nights[/I]) when you factor in the phenommenal hours comitted? Personally, I can always suppy my top one game - Doom - in a heartbeat, and then stumble for an eternity over numbers two to ten, swaying titles in and out with each wind change. I bring this up to post the following question: how special does a game experience need to be to immediately, inequivocally, make that list ? Well, so long as I have the faculties to remember the names of 10 games (and count from one to ten), I can guarantee that[I] Metal Gear Solid 4[/I] will retain a spot in my top 10, no matter which way the wind is blowing. And I'm willing to guarantee that it'll be similarly revered by PS3 gamers the world over. Yes, it's that special.
